Abusive review comments continue

Papa Joe's Appliance Repair continues to be the choice for consumers that want to pay through the nose and get threatened (online or verbally) if they express any concerns about service or the company's business practices. Here's the owner responding to a negative online review with vitriol and toxicity. In this case, including the customer's name, address, and phone number. Why? Does the owner think this kind of retaliation will convince this customer to pull down their review or prevent other customers from sharing their experiences in the future? Regardless, don't give this man or his business your money. Even more reason to not let this man ( John Shoemaker ) into your house... From https://www.whmi.com/news/article/papa-joes-appliance-spencer-vote-polls Man Destroys Signs & Yells At Brighton Twp. Voters November 3, 2020  An angry confrontation this morning at a polling place in Brighton Township has prompted complaints about voter intimidation. According to an eyewitness, a man was tearing up Biden/Harris signs at Spencer Elementary School at around 6:45 this morning while a group of people waited in line for the polls to open. When an older couple asked the man to stop, he refused and yelled out several vulgarities against the former Vice President and that he had “the right to do whatever I fu--ing want.” The woman, who identified herself to WHMI but did not want her name used publicly, said he then yelled at her because she was giggling. When she said she was doing so because he was making her nervous, he replied, ‘Oh well!!’ After...

Well, my critical online reviews of Papa Joe's Appliance Repair just got the attention of the owner, who divulged my personal information (name, address, and phone number) as promised. He also intimated that he would have his lawyer contact me if I do not remove the reviews - providing the name and contact information for said lawyer. Others have noticed too

I found this thread on the "Google My Business Help" forum, titled "Competitor 100s of fake 5 star reviews". https://support.google.com/business/thread/16650717?hl=en So, clearly: Others have noticed the same fake reviews / online fraud Google may have already removed some reviews, meaning there could have been even more  fake reviews at some point in the past

Michigan Attorney General Complaint

On June 26, 2020 I noticed that my home refrigerator’s upper cabinet was not cooling properly. I moved my food to a small secondary refrigerator to ensure the food didn’t spoil and to buy myself some time. I am quite technical (Engineer by trade) and have performed multiple repairs on refrigerators and other appliances in the past. I used the fridge’s diagnostic / service mode and a service manual I found online to identify a potential cause for the issue: a defective fan responsible for circulating cold air. This small fan is readily available online for $30-50. I was not completely confident that this was the issue or the only issue so wanted to bring in a professional to confirm my findings or provide additional insight before I ordered the part and replaced it myself. I looked online for local appliance repair companies and found Papa Joe’s Appliance Repair with a large number of positive reviews. I called them and was pleasantly surprised when the woman who answered the phone (S...

Through the Looking Glass

I want to caution other folks in Southeast Michigan about the business practices of  Papa Joe's Appliance Repair . After a recent service appointment, I expressed concerns about pricing and transparency to their staff. I was threatened by the owner who stated that if I leave a negative review online, he will publicly reply with my personal information that they now possess - name, address, phone number, etc. This is not how business owners are supposed to behave and this site will serve to detail my experiences, those of others I've found online, and conduct engaged in by Papa Joe's Appliance Repair.
